As the Ulta sale barrels forward, they’ve put my favorite wedding foundation on sale: Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care and Glow Foundation. It gives the skincare-infused glow that photographs naturally, with staying power that doesn’t require touchups or too much powder to set. And it’s acne-safe, to boot!
It’s a short week, so figured I’d turn this post into a Group Chat. What’s in your fail-safe event makeup kit? Absolute bangers only!
I’m definitely a fan of the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray but I’ll sub in a hypochlorous acid instead if it’s particularly sweaty (less hold, more acne prevention -- a worthy trade off)
The Westman Atelier blush sticks have never failed to impress me with their lasting power, they're easily the longest-wearing cream blush i've ever tried! Sunnies Face also makes really good ones with a slightly more interesting range of colors. But the Gucci blushes are even better for long wear and sweatier events (I'm talking even in Sudan's daylight heat and humidity). I usually wear kohl pencils in the waterline and I don't mind a smudgy eye look, but I prefer a more resilient mascara. Lash Slick has never done me wrong, but if you want a life-proof mascara, the Isehan Heroine Make ones have a corresponding eye makeup remover for a reason LOL
The new Revlon Illuminance is imo a dead ringer for Chanel Vitalumiere, including the odd scent. Caveat is that I’m 51 and love the Revlon in a way that I never loved the Chanel. So maybe I’ve finally aged in to the formula?
My complexion and coloring is Charlotte-Tilburyish and her stuff really works for me. (Though I’m cool toned so the pillow talk range pulls orange on me, sadly.) My theory is that if you match the brand’s influencer you’ll do well with their line. As in, she gets that a primer with SPF is what I’m looking for in summer. The Tom Ford foundation stick is also wonderful, and I believe she consulted on that line. Interestingly the TF packaging is close enough to the CT that I can confuse them in my makeup bag.
Not to compete, but the Lisa Eldridge foundation is the most excellent foundation I’ve ever used—both in texture and shade matching.
Ben Nye’s luxury loose powder, only where I need it (nose and under eyes, mainly). Found that for my actual wedding and have never looked back. It’s HD enough for film, but stands up to theatrical lighting & sweat.
Blotting papers are essential—I’m using Muji's on brides, at the moment.
I have developed a foundation addiction (also a huge fan of the Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint) so I am happy to know there's more for me to try in this realm :P

Nude stix !! Sunkissed and picante à la Sophia Richie
Don’t tempt me with a good time

Setting spray for sure. Urban Decay and Skindinavia are classics, but ELF's setting spray in the green bottle is a low-key hero product.

I haven't heard of that Revlon product but now I need it!
Charlotte Flawless filter and a lip pencil by Nars (Red Square is the best red orange ever)
