Well hello there! It certainly is a pleasure to be in your inbox again. Thank you for having me. I appreciate your patience while I took an unannounced, but much needed, hiatus. Let’s wade back into things slowly, shall we? Here’s a peek at everything I bought this weekend (it was more than I expected!):
No matter the state of their business (or buy), Net-a-Porter is always my first Memorial Day sale stop. They start early, and they go on forever. I’ll still be shopping this sale in July. Some years, I play the waiting game, but there was quite a lot of Matteau on sale, and that stuff never stays. While I wouldn’t say I needed a new bikini, I recently went out on a limb and tried a bikini from Skims. I was immediately elated, then quickly brought back down to earth. The cuts and sizing are great, but unfortunately they lack a lining, making them more revealing than I’d personally wear in public. There’s a reason my favorite bikini is a 6-year-old Matteau number. The quality and fit are excellent, and it’s still in great shape despite being in near-constant rotation. Buying this one felt more like an investment than a splurge, which is a great feeling.
Once that was said and done, I also grabbed this one shoulder number that was left at Moda Operandi. If you invite me out to get coffee on a weekend this summer, I will be wearing it, along with this hat.
I’ve been wearing A. Emery sandals almost exclusively for years, ever since Nicole Warne Shadbolt very graciously offered to ferry a pair from their native Australia to New York for me. Since then, they’ve become very widely available and well-priced, to boot. I snapped up two pairs – the black Margaux back over at Net and a pair the tan Shel at Goop. Which brings me to: Every once in a while the Goop sale goes extraordinarily hard (I still dream about the 2021 After Christmas sale, I kid you not). It’s definitely worth a scroll; these Kallmeyer jeans will soon be mine. If you go, check out these gorgeous Totême trousers (I almost bought them before mercifully realizing I already own them).
The Madewell totes got me these season. I’ve been carrying this woven tote for a few weeks, and added this sturdy straw one to my collection this weekend, along with a pair of New Balance dad sneakers (six days of walking around in the flattest of flat shoes finally has my feet screaming). They are definitely in dupe territory, but I have such a hard time spending more than $100 on a bag that carries my laptop to and fro. When paparazzi start hounding me at the airport, perhaps I’ll change my tune.
Keeping it in the family, the J.Crew sale was an absolute riot. I want nothing more than a margarita, a good podcast, and dozens of pages of extra-60%-off-with-code-level sale to scroll. I showed an admirable amount of restraint, keeping my haul to three cashmere beanies (if you’ve been here for a bit, you know they are my favorite). They were $20 each! What was I supposed to do?!
Last but not least, I’m a devotee of this style of underwear from Aerie, no matter what that says about me. They aren’t the most invisible of the styles (the rounded edges that contribute to how comfy they are also make them potentially more visible beneath certain outfits – I haven’t run into any major issues), and you can always get 10 of them under $40. With my parents moving to the East Coast this summer, I’m buying duplicates of undies, socks, pajamas, skincare, and so on to have a true home away from home. My Currentbody Red Light Mask will be making the move, while my Light Salon Mask stays behind in New York. That sort of thing. (Parachute’s 25% off offer on their whole site, particularly my favorite mattress, certainly got put to good use by the Ferbers.)
(Worth mentioning: Boyfriend did some damage at the Mr. Porter sale. Not relevant enough to do all the linking, but if you’re a man or have men in your life, it’s well worth the scroll.)
More to come later this week – though I haven’t been writing, there’s certainly been a lot on my mind. Tell it to ya soon.
